Glue-Art & Paper Studio Project...

Another FUN project from Glue-Art & Paper Studio to share with you all. This particular project uses the Crafter's Card File along with the 3x5 card inserts. There are a number of themes you could use here (recipe file, calendar etc.), but I decided to go with a teacher calendar! The Crafter's Card File is a perfect little addition to any teacher's desk and it will be close at-hand when they need it! I used a mixture of Verve and SU! stamps. The tan card insert is stamped with my french script bg. The main image is cut out with my nesty dies and I added a fun "school" themed quote along with some 3-D flowers. For each months tag, I decided to do something fun and whimsical. I came up with the idea to do a large, first letter, and then used my Karen Foster Snap stamps to finish the spelling.PTI-Polka Dot Basics...to keep the calendar cards simple!Fall is in the air AND inside my crafter's card file as well! I don't like to leave the inside "naked" so I carried the paper thru out. My adhesive of choice when altering with paper is modpodge...works wonders! In keeping with the Fall theme, I cut out the leaves (one skeleton pattern, one solid brown pattern) from my Accents Cricut cartridge. To add the additional colors for the inside of the leaf, I just cut the red/orange to size and used a glue pen on the backside (the polka dot pattern is from my PTI set). A little extra flair was added with the rhinestones!

Homespun Birthday...

This was our first time throwing a BIG party for Addison. The girls birthdays are usually spent with family and relatively small. Since it was pretty HOT here in NC we decided with a July birthday, a water slide was in order! Just a few shots from last Sunday's birthday party. Birthday girl Addie (3 yrs.) and big Sister Gracie (5 years).
Birthday invite! I kept them relatively simple since I made 20 of them. The Star theme was based around my Star Stamps from PTI's 2nd anniversary set.
Goodie boxes! I printed off the box tags and added a simple scalloped nesty die border and of course, more stars! I attached a silly straw on the side of the Chinese take-out boxes which also doubled for candy "catchers" for the pinata.
Addie getting geared up for the Hello Kitty pinata!
Here is the cupcake stand I showed you a few posts down (previous post with the brownies). Just goes to show the versatility of what you can display on this stand. I've seen some neat ideas to also store art supplies as well themed parties/holidays.

Glue-Art & Paper Studio Project...

The "lazy days" of Summer have hit home this year! I have been enjoying my little ones and we've been on the road here and there! With most of the BIG things out of the way, I think I'm home for the rest of the Summer before school is back in session in August...where does the time go? I also just returned from GA where my beautiful new Niece Kate was born on July 8th! I will be sure to share a few pics of Baby Kate this week. My 2 girls were all over her and wanted to bring her back with us! It has been nice to take an extended break from blogging as there is A LOT of behind the scenes work that goes on before I can even post something fun to share. Sooo, without further delays, I bring you the Glue-Art & Paper Studio Cupcake Stand! The whole Patriotic Theme will go in conjunction with a party we are throwing my now 3 year old this weekend. Her actual birthday was on the 18th, but this year we decided it'd be fun to throw a party! I originally had a princess theme on this cupcake stand, but my little girls had pulled off more flowers and it began looking bald, so it was time for a makeover. Since I will be making cupcakes this weekend, I thought it'd be fun to show this display with some fresh baked brownies! You really could use and finger foods or desserts on here, but don't those brownies look scrumptious????
Pulled out the ol' 2nd Anniversary PTI set again...love it! I repeated the star theme thru out the 3 tiers and added a few stamped flowers here and there. The outer rim of the second tier is trimmed in punched flowers (Martha Stewart Punch), SU! small circle punch, and rhinestones.
See that cute bow that I tied on the triangles? Well, it did start out as a mini pennant banner, however, once I got it all cut and strung with the cross-stitch thread it was too long for displaying on the front. I figured I'd mess around with it and tossed it aside while I worked on the rest of the project. The banner happened to fall in place of a circle and I thought it'd be fun to try to circle idea on the tier itself...VOILA! Once I tied and glued the banner down, I went back in between and added the silver (dew drops silver ink on blue cs) stars with buttons.

Fun nautical stripes!
Now, now, it's not what you think??!!! I didn't eat all the brownies by the end of this post...I did pass them on to my neighbors and kiddos though! Thought you might like to see what it looks like in plain glory:) I would suggest if you plan on using this for food, simply cut some wax paper to fit and set it on the tiers before you display the food. The grease from the brownies and cupcakes could stain your beautiful artwork. Another option for easy wipe off would be to put a few coats of mod podge on the tiers to prevent staining if you want to use this often. The possibilities are endless! I just totally thought of a cute idea for a baby shower...fill small glass jars with baby essentials and use them as a centerpiece at the party! Be sure to check out more ideas from the Design Team!

Glue-Art & Paper Studio Week...project #3

A little number I'm saving for our 10 year anniversary next year! Yeah, its a bit "early" for this gift, but hey, for once in my life, I will be on time and won't be rushing for a thoughtful gift for my hubby. I figured this Luv-O-Dex Kit would be a great way for us to remember (if we can!!) all the fun times we've shared over the years! The Luv-O-Dex Kit comes with just about everything you see here, but I did use my own chipboard letters. You will have more than enough supplies to complete this great gift for your loved one! I could have gone "over-the-top" with embellishments here, however, this will be going on my beside table eventually so I didn't want to over indulge. I started by painting the entire card file in a white matte acrylic paint. Once the paint was dry I used a little Mod Podge for the patterned paper. The "reminisce" is printed off my pc in CKBecky Font. I finally figured out how to save new fonts...YEAH ME! I have several I'd like to save from Dafont.com...that's for another time though...lol Your kit will include "love prompt" cards that are pre-printed and if you choose, you can stamp on them as well. This set includes 14 prompt cards. I separated the prompt cards with red and pink divider cards (also included in your kit). Lots of Stickles usage this week (ME LIKE A LOT!).I'm not all the fantastic playing with these slide embellishments. I literally stared at the wall for an hour figuring out how I was going to incorporate it in to my design. I'm happy how it all played out...the charms are also in the kit and you could even attach these with ribbon if you like. Since I knew I wasn't going to be hanging the designs with ribbon, I simply cut off the ribbon loops that were on top of the charms. And of course, never leave the last page blank!!!! This was a cute pre-stamped card in my kit and I wanted to be sure I saved it for LAST! This gift will truly be cherished for the both of us. I think I can still keep it a surprise until next year...it's a safe bet that my hubby will never stumble on to my blog...and eh, if he does, that would be a pleasant surprise! I LOVE YOU!

Glue-Art & Paper Studio Week...project #2

I've had my Dress Form completed since I first started with Glue-Art & Paper Studio almost 2 years ago! Surely doesn't seem like its been that long! The Dress Form has held up very nicely since then, even thru my military move (you know how wonderfully gentle they are on our things!) in which I decided it would be much smarter to hand carry all my creations. I put them all in a Rubbermaid container and it stayed with me for a few months until we closed on our house! Even the girls Birthday Cupcake Stand looks as though I created it yesterday. There are other ways in which this shadow box can be used. My girls first reaction was to turn the box on its back and it made an instant cradle for their small dolls. Pretty clever eh? Also when turned on its back, it would display nicely on your workspace as a ribbon holder for your large spools! Versatile products for sure, just use your imagination ladies! I wanted to keep my design fairly simple because I love the elegance of the red/black combo as well as the pattern in the paper. I started by painting the entire box in a matte black. The paper on the inside was added next, then I added the pearl feet. I found a strand of pearls in the necklace section at Wal-Mart. When I got home I discovered the pearls were too round to support the bottom of my box so a quick solution was to use a file and make a straight-edge for them to "sit" on the box. I used E6000 glue to adhere the pearls...make sure you leave the pearls to dry for awhile...nothing worse then trying to move the box around before the glue has set!
Simple satin ribbon and bow on top!
"D" is for Dawn:) I was rummaging thru my stock of chipboard and found this italic design which I thought went well! The chipboard was left naked (no painting or adding paper over it!) so I just added a generous amount of X-mas Red Stickles over the top.

Glue-Art & Paper Studio Week...project #1

This week is dedicated to some fun projects I was fortunate enough to complete for Glue-Art & Paper Studio. If you've ever had the pleasure of working with these fun products, you know they are great quality products to work with! The owners are two fantastic ladies, Vicky and Kelli, who share a love of crafting and turned their passion into a wonderful line of unfinished wood products. Today I'm going to share my first project with the Organizer Box. Along with the wooden box, 6 chipboard inserts and a wood backing insert (the last insert for support) come with this kit. You will notice I only have 3 chipboard inserts here, but I actually glued 2 of each to one another to add more support since I knew I'd be flipping thru this organizer often. My first step was to cover the outside of the box. For those of you who love fabric, you will recognize this fun Amy Butler pattern. I trimmed just enough to overlap on the outside of the box and approx. 1/4 inch on the top so I could lay it down on the inside lip. You could probably use a number of different adhesives to attach the fabric, however my favorite is Matte Mod Podge when adhering fabric to wood. You get a very strong hold! Bottom view of the box! I didn't cover the entire bottom with fabric since no one is going to see it!To create the fabric strips for the top on the outside, I used a thin white cs (something thin like SU! whisper white) and wrapped the fabric around the edges and pushed it right on thru my sewing machine. Here is what it looks like once you get all the edges done. Don't worry about it not looking all "Martha Stewart" clean...your not going to see this side anyway....lol To adhere the strips to the fabric top, I used E6000 glue. I love this glue for its strength, but man does it smell toxic! I made a simple stamped insert to cover the inside of the box. All you need to do is cut your cs to size and decorate! Double sided sticky tape was used to adhere the inside cs.
Glimpse of the finished product. I used a generous amount of Diamond Stickles for the letters and hung them with some offray white ribbons. Like my little glass door knobs for feet? They were recycled from this Glue-Art & Paper Studio project I did last year!
The scalloped edge was created with my Fiskars Water Threading Punch and a skinny strip of SU! green galore cs. This is what my Organizer Box looks like once it's all done! And yes, this will actually stay organized...one of the few things on my desk that will stay neat:)
I just realized I posted these last few pics out of order, but just follow along! Shipping & Packing is my last label tab and this is where I keep my orders that are ready to ship after they've been packaged. Pending Orders--this is where I store orders I'm currently working on but have not yet completed.
Pending Orders in Front--these are orders that I've done samples on and I'm just awaiting final approval before the real work gets started! And finally, my finished project before I put it to use. It looks complicated, but anyone can do this! All you need is a little inspiration, some glue, fabric, and tape:)

Glue-Art & Paper Studio...DT Project

For this design team project...I decided to go "out-on-a-whim" and this is what I came up with! Once I had the paper down and the collar situated, it started to remind me of the show Laverne & Shirley(see my monogram??....teehee!)...yes this is before my time, but I remember watching re-runs of this show and Happy Days because this is what Mom always watched. The necklace holder comes completely naked(bare wood) and is nice and smooth so your ready to decorate as soon as it arrives at your door! The patterend paper is from Basic Grey-Two Scoops and the white cs is a textured Bazzill. To create the collar sleeves I used my largest Nesty Circle Dies and cut them in half. The scallops are cut out in SU! Bashful Blue. I decided to for-go the regular belt line and used some prima's and adhesive Rhinestones. The great thing about this necklace holder is that it will actually hold several at one time...I just didn't put more than one on here...it would have looked like Mr. T and L&S had crossed paths...lol

Glue-Art & Paper Studio DT project...

I love all the projects I do for Glue-Art & Paper Studio, but this has got to be at least my 2nd favorite(the first being the cupcake stand for my girls!) work of art! This 4 section wood stand starts out as a plain jane platform and I knew right away I wanted it to have crystal feet. I bought the "feet" at Home Depot and they are actually door knobs, but I just left the silver screw out and glued them on with E6000 glue. The PP is from American Craft and I just trimmed and modpodged it on. The brown satin ribbon is from SU!My sister totally gets credit for the "glasses" idea, however, for all the wrong reasons...they ARE NOT shot glasses(although it could be an option)....LOL!! I had shared my project with her, but left out the details on my fabulous CANDLE HOLDERS! I purchased the candle holders at Mike's and used Martha Stewart Rub-ons for a border along the tops. I love the way rub-ons look and appeal to the masses, but the "masses" I am not! I tried very carefully to get these things on without rubbing them off with my free-fingers...there is a reason why I did not post a close-up of the rub-ons...lol I'm convinced they are only "flawless" for Martha herself....lol I went for a simple, but elegant look by using my Papertrey Ink Monogram Set and added some Amuse Twinkle stickles for some bling. This candle set could be used for a really cool table setting and when the shower is over, each guest can take home a beautiful candle in tow.

Check out what the rest of the Glue-Art & Paper Studio Design Team is cooking up!

Princess Cupcake Stand...

My latest project for Glue-Art & Paper Studio. This truly is a cupcake stand that is fit for any little princess. We used it for Gracie's 4th bday back in February. I brought it along to Chuck E. Cheese with us so we could display the cupcakes nicely. If you plan to transport your cupcakes, I'd advise you put them in a tupperware container and then just swap them out for the display when you get to your party destination!

I started out with a plain wood stand and mod-podged on my patterned paper. The scalloped edge is done with my SU! corner rounder and I stamped some petite flower stems on each scallop. I used various Prima flowers and added Dew Drops every other one. Another great tip: If you plan to use this for more than one pretty princess, you can add a small magnet strip in the middle so it allows you to change out the initials of the birthday girl! We have two girls in our house, so I plan to get plenty of use out this stand.
